It’s 2020 and the hen night struggle is real. Not so much struggling to come up with hen party entertainment ideas but trying to find a hen party theme that isn’t tacky!

It’s true that most couples already live together before they get married, many of them for 10+ years, so some of the traditional aspects of hen and stag nights are no longer relevant.

While some are calling for hen parties to be ditched entirely, we don’t think there’s anything wrong with a bit of fun with your friends to celebrate your coming wedding. And they don’t have to be trashy!

Consider some of these options…

Classy Hen Party Theme Ideas

Forget the matching t-shirts and feather boas, hen parties in 2020 are about creativity and style. While you don’t have to have a hen party theme, it is a good excuse to get dressed up and can help with decorations, gifts, games and activities. Our favourite non-tacky hen party themes in 2020 are:

  • Boho – if the bride to be loves festivals and floaty dresses then this one’s for you
  • Sleepover – Staying in is the new going out, so why not grab some snacks, download a movie and have a night in where you can actually hear each other talk!
  • All white or all black – nothing says chic like monochrome. If your bride isn’t keen on white, go for all black or choose another colour.
  • Girl band – throwback to the ‘90s and noughties with Spice Girls or Destiny’s Child or have an 80’s revival with Mel & Kim or Bananarama.
  • Vintage – Think 1920’s for the ultimate glam hen party.  Red lipstick, curls and beaded dresses are essential!

Hen Party Games

Hen party games and activities are another staple for brides to be. While tequila shots and strippers were once the norm, modern brides tend to prefer something more creative and/or relaxing.

Some of our suggestions include:

  • Paint and sip
  • Cooking class
  • Dancing Class
  • High tea
  • Spa weekend
  • Scavenger hunt with clues relating to the bride
  • Yoga retreat

Whatever you decide, just make sure the bride is happy. It’s her night after all. And if you need to hire a jukebox for the big day, you know where to go!
